Ceilidh the night away in Alloway
On Saturday night Calm Doon travelled down the M77 to the sleepy Ayrshire town of Alloway, home of Scotland’s most famous son, Robert Burns. We provided entertainment to the Bowbeer family, whose son recently married in the United States, and the family of the bride who made the trip across the pond to celebrate the wedding in Scotland with their new Scottish in-laws.
The venue – the Robert Burns Birthplace Museum – provided a great atmosphere for a feisty ceilidh during which the band also played a mixture of songs from the Deep South including Wagon Wheel by Old Crow Medicine Show and I am A Man of Constant Sorrow from the George Clooney hit film O Brother, Where Art Thou? to cater for the American contingent. What a night!
