Vote for Calm Doon!
Local ceilidh rock band Calm Doon have won the regional final of pub giant Greene King’s talent competition, Live at Your Local.
Calm Doon are one of only two Scottish bands to make it to the penultimate stage of the competition. They will now compete against other British pub acts for a chance to play at the O2 in London.
Sean Griffin, lead singer of Calm Doon, said: “It’s such an amazing feeling to have won our regional final. We’re a band with roots across central Scotland, so for people to have voted us into the final 19 acts in Britain is just an amazing feeling.
“To be one of only two Scottish bands at this stage of the competition is mind-blowing. We want to go all the way down to London and show them how we do pub entertainment up in Scotland. To do that, we need people to vote for us.”
Greene King’s Live at Your Local competition searched the country for the very best of local musical talent of all genres to take part in a nationwide pub talent tournament.
Qualifying artists got the chance to perform live at their local participating pub – Stirling’s No. 2 Baker Street for Calm Doon – before heading to first round heats and regional finals. Calm Doon won their regional final at the Twa Tams in Perth, and now have a chance to seal their place in the last seven acts.
Calm Doon are now up against the prime of British pub entertainers, with only the public’s votes giving them a chance at the national final. Voting opens on Saturday 5 August for five days only. Votes can be cast for Calm Doon at greeneking.co.uk.
