Calm Doon played two weddings in one weekend last week. We travelled up the A9 all the way to Tomatin in the heart of the highlands to play at a stunning wedding near the dramatic Findhorn Bridge and next up we played another wedding at the majestic Fingask Castle in rural Perthshire. What a weekend!
Calm Doon is pleased to announce that the band has won the Greene King Live at Your Local Regional Final in Perth last night.
The band is now one of the last remaining acts in the UK-wide competition and will need your vote online to help secure its place in the national final being held in the O2 in London.
Voting opens on Saturday 5 August. More detail to follow.

The band was in action again at the weekend playing at the wedding of James and Abigail Bowman at the Eden Leisure Village near Cumbernauld. The ceilidh was held in a large marquee tent in the middle of the glamping grounds of the village under which almost every guest participated energetically in every dance. A great night enjoyed by all!

On Saturday night Calm Doon travelled down the M77 to the sleepy Ayrshire town of Alloway, home of Scotland’s most famous son, Robert Burns. We provided entertainment to the Bowbeer family, whose son recently married in the United States, and the family of the bride who made the trip across the pond to celebrate the wedding in Scotland with their new Scottish in-laws.
The venue – the Robert Burns Birthplace Museum – provided a great atmosphere for a feisty ceilidh during which the band also played a mixture of songs from the Deep South including Wagon Wheel by Old Crow Medicine Show and I am A Man of Constant Sorrow from the George Clooney hit film O Brother, Where Art Thou? to cater for the American contingent. What a night!
